Besides enjoying great networking opportunities, chapter volunteers are also honored through our Volunteer Recognition Program each year. It's also a good way to earn PDUs if you are PMP certified and an active volunteer.

Diana SnablyThe New Member Committee participates in the monthly dinner meetings in a number of ways; Meet & Greet, New Member Dinner Table Hosts, Chapter Orientation Sessions. This requires at least 6 – 8 people committed each month to attend the dinner meeting. In support of these activities we are looking for 1 – 2 volunteers to join the team to help where ever it is needed. Activities to include periodic review of PMIWDC website for currency of info related to New Members. As a team, we count on each other so a commitment to participate in a 1 hour monthly conference call and frequent attendance to the monthly dinner meeting is desired. Diana SnablyThe New Member Committee has a number of activities to be documented, updated, and maintained on the SharePoint site. This includes survey results from monthly dinner meetings, new member attendee lists, team roles and responsibilities, and new member handouts. A new activity the team would like to provide is a relevant FAQ based on feedback we get from dinner meetings and chapter orientation sessions. This person would help maintain the currency of such a document. We work as a team and count on each other so a commitment to participate on a 1 hour monthly conference call and frequent attendance to the monthly dinner meeting is desired. Most activities would require several hours independently compiling survey results or other record keeping. PDU eligible! Ronald PetrickaRole of AVP to the VP of Local Communities is to share duties of the VP, and represent the VP in his or her absence. Duties include familiarizing oneself with all 15-18 local venues in Northern Virginia and Wash DC, occasionally visiting the venues on a rotating basis, establishing and overseeing a small budget used by Local communities, participating in monthly board meetings and telecoms, regional meetings (once or twice a year), and occasional weekend meetings. Also, Assist in monthly or quarterly reporting and statusing that is asked of the local venues. Also, Support once a year review of local venue charters. Also, Assist if necessary in the distribution of honorarium to the venues and submission of few expense reports submitted by those venues. Monthly board meeting alternate between 30 minute telecoms, 2 hours hosted dinner, once a month; weekend meetings, 5-6 hours, 2-3 times a year; occasional luncheon hours visiting local venues - once or twice every quarter; regional meeting hosted stateside for a long weekend. Ronald PetrickaCo-host will share duties and responsibilities with fellow co-host to prepare for, host, and closeout monthly Luncheon meetings. Preparation work entails soliciting, inviting speakers, submitting pre-event forms, securing conference space, distributing flyers and pre-registration info, setting up conference space, taking attendance, making introductions, networking, facilitating the presentations, and submitting 3-4 short forms, to include attendee list that serve to close out the meetings. Plan on an hour during the month, prior to meeting, 2 hours committed to the meeting itself, and an hour to close out and submit paperwork. Assist the Bookstore team by staffing the PMIWDC Bookstore at the monthly dinner meetings. Help set up and break down the bookstore tables. Respond to attendee questions about books and merchandise. Process sales transactions, make change, and maintain inventory tracking sheet. Dannette RichardsThe Speaker Team will consist of a lead, a supporting committee member, and 4 volunteers on event day. The Sponsor Team Lead will research and recruite speakers to present on topics relevant to project management disciplines and the Career Day theme. This will include developing a speaker engagement plan, researching the speaker database and working with PMIWDC to identify speakers, contacting speakers, and supporting them on event day. The Speaker Team Lead will work closely with the Volunteer Staffing Lead and the Committee Chair to develop a plan for recruiting and managing the volunteers for event day. The event will be held in late Sept or early Oct. 2012. The position will require 8-12 hours of service per month between April and November. Responsibilities Include: • Attends weekly Committee conference calls throughout planning and execution phases • Reports progress and status to the Event Director and Project Manager weekly • With assistance from the Event Director and Project Manager, creates all speaker materials, including the Speaker Information Packet • Researches potential speakers, including working with the Chapter VP of Speakers, PMR, and other Committee members to identify potential speakers and gathering references as necessary • Collects and stores all speaker proposals information; will include working with the Marketing/Website Leads to create the appropriate forms for data collection • Presents to the Event Director and PM a summary of all potential speakers to select a final list of speakers and backup speakers • Communicates selection/non-selection to each speaker who submitted a proposal • Maintains communications throughout planning phase using the PMIWDC email account and recording telephone communications as appropriate • Coordinates with Logistics Lead on material shipping and storage prior to event day • Works with the Marketing Team, to ensure all selected speakers are represented appropriately on any marketing material • Reviews and provides final sign-off of any materials where speakers are mentioned • Suggests and coordinates purchase of speaker thank you gifts • Creates a one-minute introduction (recommend soliciting this from the speaker themselves) used to introduce the speaker prior to their session • Provides all speaker logistics related requirements to the Logistics Lead • Ensures the Speakers have all appropriate logistical information prior to the event (i.e., hotel information, directions, session times, event schedule) • Ensures all speaker materials (logos, presentations pictures, etc.) are collected and stored by the deadlines set • Ensures all speakers are registered prior to deadline set • Ensures the speakers are all greeted upon check-in and provided their check-in packets • Coordinates with Logistics Lead to provide a Speakers’ Table/Booth in the Sponsors area • Creates *.pdf file of all presentations will be posted on the website • May include coordinating pickup up and drop off at airport for workshops and keynotes, and as many other speakers as possible • Ensures each speaker completes a Speaker Survey after their session and provides to Survey Lead • Communicates survey results to each speaker after the event • Works with Volunteer Lead to get assistance where necessary in planning phase • Works with Volunteer Lead to enlist appropriate coverage for event days to ensure each speaker gets appropriate introductions and is escorted to the Speakers’ boothRead More Apply

This will include developing a call plan, gaining a detailed understanding of the event, and creating a sales pitch. The Sponsor Team Lead will work closely with the Volunteer Staffing Lead and the Committee Chair to develop a plan for recruiting and managing the volunteers for. The event will be held in late Sept or early Oct. 2012. The position will require 8-12 hours of service per month between April and November. Davin E. Hattaway, CAEPMIWDC is looking for volunteers qualified to act as interpreters for American Sign Language during the educational components our events. From time to time members request ASL interpreters so that they can participate in our educational programs. PMIWDC is happy to provide these services at it's own expense, so that our events can be accessible to all project managers. As almost all PMIWDC programs are free or heavily subsidized, this service sometimes creates a significant burden.
